Our Impact Approach
Our Theory of Change
We empower safer healthcare outcomes by dismantling language barriers. Our model integrates youth-led translation with mentorship and community co-design, ensuring that high-quality AMR stewardship materials are accessible, culturally resonant, and actionable in local languages worldwide.
Target Indicators
Planned Phase 1 Indicators:
• 10 Initial Pilot Sites identified for language deployment.
• 500+ Clinicians reached with localized stewardship guidance.
• 50+ High-priority resources translated from WHO and CDC originals.
• Active co-design feedback loops integrated with local health partners.
Resistance Education & Language Access by Youth
RELAY is a youth-led AMR translation network in early formation, dismantling the language barriers that drive global health disparities and antibiotic misuse.
76%
of people misunderstand antimicrobial resistance. Misuse of antibiotics remains the predominant driver of AMR.

10M

4B
people lack access to AMR guidance in one of the WHO’s six official languages.

~98%
of peer-reviewed AMR literature is currently published only in English.
This concentration of research leaves billions of non-English speakers without critical updates on resistance patterns and stewardship protocols.
6.5B
people worldwide do not speak English as their primary language.
Addressing this communication gap is essential for global antibiotic safety.
Voices We Hope to Center
As we move toward our Phase 1 pilots, RELAY is building frameworks to gather and amplify the perspectives of those on the front lines of the language access gap. We seek to learn from the youth translators navigating the AMR literature gap, clinicians reporting on the utility of localized stewardship tools, and community members describing how primary-language access transformed their understanding of antibiotic safety. These lived experiences will guide our iterative design and ensure our model remains grounded in real-world health equity.
Help Grow Our Impact
As RELAY AMR is currently in its early formation and pre-launch phase, our first full impact report will summarize results from our upcoming Phase 1 pilots. We invite you to join our journey and follow along as we build the infrastructure required to dismantle language barriers in global health.
